Hello there, my name is Annie, and I came to rescue in sort of a different way than most dogs do. You see I had my picture on Facebook, evidently I was on the euthanasia list and was even moved to that dreaded room when an individual (lets call him Dan) stepped in and saved my life. Dan came in and told me that I was a good girl and "that you passed your dog test and baby test with flying colors" (whatever that means!). All I know is that I got a second chance at life.

But Dan hadn't planned on keeping me - with three dogs of his own and a brand new baby, he didn't have room for me forever but knew he couldn't let me die. So that's where we are now, me at Dan's house while we look for my forever.

I am dog friendly, baby friendly 4 year old girl who looks a bit like a who from Whoville (see that little turned up nose?) I'm a petite girl, weighing in around 30 lobs, though I know I could stand to gain a few pounds. My foster family thinks I'm the cutest thing ever and is so proud to have gone out on a limb to save me. I sure agree and appreciate every day I am given, I promise to show my appreciation and love each and every day I am given for the rest of my life.

About WILSON ANIMAL RESCUE - Memphis

About Our Rescue Group...

Wilson Animal Rescue is a 100% volunteer-run, foster-based rescue group in Memphis, Tennessee. We focus on rescuing dogs who are in danger of being euthanized at the city's run shelter and other midsouth shelters. We strive to place dogs in loving homes not only locally but in cities in the Midwest and New England areas. There simply aren't enough people adopting in the Memphis area to keep up with the amount of adoptable dogs who find themselves homeless.

For Example- In July 2015 Memphis Animal Services(city run animal control facility) took in 753 dogs. 191 were surrendered by their owners and 428 were brought in as strays either by animal control or by citizens. Of those strays 39 were returned to their owners. That was a good month for reclaims, typically only 5% of strays are returned to their owners. Of the 6,212 animals MAS has taken in through July of this year, 315 have been reclaimed. 336 dogs are euthanized in the month of July 2015, bringing the total of euthanized so far this year to 2228.

These numbers are from just ONE animal control facility. These numbers are why it has become our passion to help save these precious lives. To represent the underdog, to prove that rescues are just as loving and deserving as purebred dogs.
