My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ELIE

Spayed Female   Cream   Standard Poodle/English Golden Retriever   78 lbs.     6-1/2 yrs.

My nickname is Elie (pronounced “Elly”), but my real name is Eleanor and I was named for a very famous and beautiful 12th Century lady, Eleanor of Acquitaine, who was a queen in two countries, first France and then England.  I think that is very appropriate because I have been a queen in my first home and now am looking for my second home to reign over.  Also, like Queen Eleanor, I am also very beautiful (how could I miss since I am a cross between a Standard Poodle and an English Golden Retriever!) and very well educated and well mannered.  I am also very adaptable, having lived first in a home with a large garden and later in a home without much of a garden at all.  But I kept my impeccable manners in both settings, along with my wonderful owner who never failed to walk me three times a day when we didn’t have a big garden.

Maybe I could best describe myself by using some of the words of my former owner:

She proved to be an exceptionally easy and delightful pet; she house trained quickly...she enjoys grain free dry food, does not have a huge  appetite, and will not eat when she is alone...She is very mellow and smart.  The most important thing for her is to be included   in whatever is happening.  She will follow you from room to room and doesn’t like being separated from you.  She enjoys a nice walk...She loves to play fetch...She also loves playing tug of war and will usually greet you with a toy in her mouth that she want you to tug on...She’s         very healthy, has no genetic or behavioral problems, loves children, cats and other non-aggressive dogs and still acts like a puppy.  She’s the perfect dog, and deserves a loving family.

So why am I looking for a new home?  It’s a complicated story, but the short version of it is that my former owner can no longer keep me with him most of the time the way he used to when he could take me to work with him, and he loves me a lot and doesn’t want to see me alone so much of the time (he knows how much I love people and company) and confined to an apartment.  I’m good about it (queens do their duty and don’t complain), but he knows it makes me sad.

Are you the person that can keep me with you throughout the day and give me the kind of love and attention I’m accustomed to?  If so I give you my pledge to be your best and most loving friend for life.  Queens don’t break their promises!!

Dogs are vaccinated, microchipped  and spayed/neutered before adoption.

The necessary first step to inquire about any dog, is to complete the NCPR Adoption Interest Form. Once we receive the NCPR Adoption Interest Form, a volunteer will contact you promptly. We need your information to match you with the perfect companion. NorCal Poodle Rescue places dogs within northern California only.
