My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Linn came from a shelter in Texas. We were intrigued by her combination of short and long black hair, and since black dogs are often overlooked, we wanted to give her a chance at a new life. As you can see by her pictures, she is actually both black and brown. Though we're calling her a terrier, we really don't know what her breed mix is, but we do know that Linn has true Southern charm! She’s gentle with people, and even a bit shy at first. She is friendly, and enjoys being petted, but is not "in your face affectionate". She is not much of a barker, only when justified (at a coyote or ambulance siren). Linn is very good in her crate, where she sleeps through the night. She prefers to sleep on the couch or in front of the heater, but who can blame her for that! It seems that her Southern upbringing did not include cats, since she likes to chase and bark at the family cat (but being the lady that she is, she never hurts the cat.) She is house-trained and used to regular potty breaks.

Linn is very good around other dogs, and loves to run around the back yard with her foster brothers and wrestle with them in the house. Although she is able to climb a chain-link fence, she just wants to confirm what’s on the other side. Still, a board fence is recommended. A real “door--watcher” she’s always ready to go outside, either for a walk or for a romp in the back yard.

Linn is about 4 years old and weighs 23 pounds, a perfect medium size. She is learning to walk nicely on a leash without pulling, and her foster mom is working on “sit” and “wait” (Linn especially likes the treats that go with that!) We think Linn is a lovely dog, and she is ready to love whomever has room in their home, on their couch, and in their heart!

Linn is in a private foster home and is shown by appointment, after your application has been processed. You can request an application by emailing info@adoptapet-il.org, calling 847-550-9690, or download from our website www.adoptapet-il.org. (For a faster response, we suggest emailing instead of calling since our volunteers check email before and after regular business hours.)

Linn's adoption fee of $300 includes routine vet exam, DAPP distemper combo vaccination, bordetella vaccination, rabies vaccination, flea/tick preventative, heartworm test (negative), heartworm preventative, routine deworming, microchip and spay.
