Bratwurst is the most laid back, happy-go-lucky sausage-like dog. He lives up to his name, a real Bratwurst! He's sure to win you over with his charming demeanor and stubby little legs. He loves belly rubs and would like you to drop everything for it. He walks well on a leash, loves to be co-pilot on car rides and knows sit. Bratwurst loves the company of other dogs and is great with kids; he would fit in seamlessly with any family. He is a bit of a treat and toy snob. He is in a foster home without cats, therefore we do not know how he is with felines
Likes: Belly rubs, ear massage, moist treats, carrots, dog beds and family time
Dislikes: Dry treats, being ignored
Bratwurst was rescued from a rural outdoor-only shelter in Oklahoma where there is no adoption program. Dogs are held for two weeks and if not reclaimed by their owners, they are killed. There is no electricity, no shelter from the elements except a plastic dog house with hay, no volunteers to come walk them, and little to no chance of making it out alive. Dolly's Legacy is working hard to save them from a terrible fate and give them the chance they deserve at a happy life with loving families.
Bratwurst appears to be a Bassador (Basset Hound/Labrador) mix; but on a bit of a smaller scale. He weighs 40 lbs and is approximately 4 yrs old. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative & dewormed. He tested heartworm negative. Adoption fee is $275.
