My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BOBBY spent weeks outside in the cold before a concerned person contacted the rescue for help. She told us that the people living in the house had left weeks before and abandoned Bobby and his wee pal Bernie. They were outside with no shelter and no food. Bernie has been adopted and Bobby is safe in a foster homes where he has regained his weight and his health. Bobby tested heartworm positive but has completed the treatment needed to rid him of heartworm. Bobby is an Australian Shepherd mix. He is two years old and weighs around 60 pounds. He has been vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. He gets along with other dogs and people. He did not react to cats he saw at the vet's office. He is crate trained and house trained. He walks well on a leash. He is eager to please and is learning basic commands. He does eat quickly and tries to guard his food which is understandable since he was left to starve. He should be fed his meals separately until this behavior is resolved. A special bowl that promotes slower eating has also helpful. He is a very sweet, handsome pup who deserves a loving, safe inside home. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport Bobby if it means he will have a good forever home. If you are another rescue group, we will waive the adoption fee but you can make a donation toward vetting at your discretion. The adoption fee will help this 501(c)3, all-volunteer rescue to cover at least part of the cost of the veterinary care this dog has received.
