My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Wilder. I am a very handsome 19 month old male Boxer/American Staffordshire Terrier. My owner and I are best friends but he can't give me the life I need. I don't want to leave him but we live in an apartment now and I'm really not very happy. I need a big fenced yard so I can go outside to roam around and explore! I love to patrol and protect my yard too. That's when I feel happy and relaxed. Being inside all the time is very boring for me and it really stresses me out!

My first family found me in Mexico when I was just a puppy so I am used to having space. The people didn't keep me very long - I guess they expected me to know how to live in a house and to have manners! But, pups who live on the streets in Mexico don't know those things - they are too busy just trying to live. There is never enough to eat and they have to protect themselves against other dogs and people who want to hurt them. I am one of the lucky ones who survived. And I am lucky that I have someone who knows what I truly need.

I am very loving and friendly with the people I know. I love to cuddle and just be with them. Both of my breeds are know for really loving their own people. We are a little suspicious of strangers because we are very loyal and protective of our families. Some folks think I might be a good therapy dog one day because of the deep attachments I make with people and because I am so loyal and so smart.

I am high spirited and I love to play and get physical with other dogs. Sometimes I can be a bit rough though and I can be a bit aggressive. It's best for me not to get too excited. I don't like other dogs who try to dominate me and I will let them know about it! I am better with other dogs when I am off leash but I still need more help from my people to learn how to behave well with other dogs all the time - on leash and off leash. It's something that Boxers and Staffies have to practice a lot!

I am a high energy guy who loves to run and hike and play tug of war! Playing hide and seek is one of my favourite games. I'm smart too so I need to be mentally challenged every day. I really hope my new family loves to be outside doing all kinds of activities and having adventures. I'm calm in the house though if I get the exercise I need.

I am healthy and I've had my vaccinations and I am house trained. I know quite a lot of commands too!

I think I am a pretty great guy! If you are looking for a loving and loyal friend - it could be me!
