My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Everyone just loves puppies! Miss Momma Holly had a litter of 4 puppies on 12/18/16 and they all look quite different. Did you know that there can be multiple daddy dogs in one litter of puppies? Based on this crew, we’re guessing Holly had 4 baby-daddies! Holly is a German Short-hair Pointer/Beagle mix and Grace’s dad was probably a Spaniel but it’s always so hard to tell since so many different breeds of puppies look the same. There is one dog that could account for the various coloring and variety of this litter, Gordon Setter, but that may be a long shot! Based on her current age and size, Grace’s weight will probably stay in the 40’s. At 6.5 weeks, she’s already 7.2 lbs!

Of course these pups aren’t housebroken yet, and they’ll take some good TLC and patience to get there. As of now, all four puppies are gated in the kitchen with potty pads. Though they don’t exactly know how to use them effectively, they will potty on them and whine to go out shortly after. They absolutely hate pooping in their space! Play time and nap time are constantly being alternated for these pups and they will nap in Holly’s crate with her, or on a soft dog bed. Once they’ve been shown an area where their food comes consistently, they return to it over and over, especially if there’s a nice soft blanket nearby, so these puppies should be pretty easy to crate train!

Grace has met young children and did just what we expected – crawled all over with love and kisses and tail wags! Keep in mind, puppies have little needles for teeth and they will be teething for a while, so it’s important that any children they meet understand that. So far, all the dog’s that she has encountered have been instant friends! And same with people! All strangers that have come into their home have showered them with lots and lots of pets, so they have no reason to fear anyone :) Vacuums on the other hand… the entire litter goes running to the complete opposite corner of the house when Foster Mom has to clean!

As of now, all of the puppies have a common routine: 30-60 minutes to pee, eat, and play like a maniac. After that, they’re down for the count, maybe 2-3 hours’ worth of napping. At this point, they wake up twice each night for food and potty/play breaks. Grace is basically matched with her brother Courage at the size of their ears… look at those things! She’s the only one with long, curly hair so that makes it all the harder for her to walk on hard surfaces. She’s always slipping on the floor, sliding across on her belly instead of taking off with her siblings. She’s the one who is most affectionate toward people rather than her canine crew. She certainly enjoys playing, but she’ll be the first to seek out the humans and gain their affection. Forest is second on her list; it’s too cute how she just rolls over, all four paws in his face, and just kicks up ant him and gives him kisses! Grace has the best tail wag, by far. If her eyes are open, her tail is wagging.

If you’re looking for a super sweet puppy and understand the type of time, TLC and patience that goes into raising a youngster, then this little gal is a perfect fit for you! Potty training will need to be handled along with basic manners, and you can probably count on some sleepless nights while they settle in… but once she shows you how much he loves you… you’ll be hooked!

To ensure our dogs are placed in a safe environment, we require a home visit for all adoptions. Because of this, we typically only adopt to homes within 30 minutes of Athens, GA. If you are further away than that and are interested in one of our pups, please still fill out an application and we can discuss your options. Please understand that you would be responsible for all transportation - meeting the dog, picking the dog up to start a trial, returning the dog should he/she not be a good fit, etc. Please visit our website for more info.
