My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

http://www.valleydogs.org/farrah-whippetmix.html

Hi, my name is Farrah. My brother, James, and I were seized by the Arizona Humane Society from a hoarding situation. We were in a house with approximately 25 other dogs, one human and had never been outside prior to being taken by the Arizona Humane Society.

Because of me being so fearful (from lack of exposure and socialization), AHS felt it best if I could be placed with a rescue who could foster me in a home environment. Valley Dogs found me and my brother a wonderful foster family with children and a dog and an outside cat who have all been working with me and teaching me all about being a dog. It is so fun to have a yard to run and play in and a doggie door to come in and out as I please – I never had that before.

I will still have a few dips in the road as I am exposed to new things and learn all about this great big wonderful world that was denied to me previously, but I have made great strides and am ready for a home of my own. Since I can tend to be a bit timid and scared of loud noises and unfamiliar conditions, an active, but mellower home may be easier for me to acclimate into. I do have an attachment to my brother, James, and while it would be great if we could be adopted together, I should do fine with a home with another canine companion to help show me all the things I need to know and to keep me company, and understanding humans to give me time to acclimate to my new home.

I am up to date on all my shots, have been spayed and have been microchipped. I am crate trained, know how to use a doggy door and understand not to make messes in the house – given it is a reasonable amount of time between potty breaks.

Although I was listed by the Humane Society as an English Pointer mix, it is believed I may be more of a whippet mix. To understand the characteristics of a whippet and if I may fit into your family, check out: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/whippet.htm
