My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like young energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm doggie breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think that they're homeless in rural Texas. Farfel's Rescue was contacted by Gabby's rescuer (who was already enamored with the sweetness of this beautiful baby)...we were told about the great personality and over- the- top cuteness of this special dog and made the decision to help Gabby find her first ever forever family. She deserves a great home and loving guardian just as much as any other sweet pup with a great temperament.
Please note - this sad shelter photo (makes Gabby look out of proportion and not at all her beautiful self) is the only photo that was made available to us. We'll update with a new shot that will show Gabby's gorgeous red merle coloring and dark eyes with so much wisdom for a young pup.

Gabby, at just 18 weeks old and 20 lbs (anticipated full-grown weight of 32 - 35 lbs), was facing the possible end of her life just as it was beginning. ...she was rescued just in the nick of time. This sweet and engaging Cattle Dog/Aussie Shepherd mix (a popular breed cross that's loved for it's intelligence, super-soft coat and engaging personality) is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life.

Gabby is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of these working breeds. She's also bright and so loving (loves to cuddle in your lap-but watch out..puppy energy may call). Gabby clearly has no memory of her scary early life...she's well-adjusted and (while initially a bit shy) warms up and is a loyal and very loving girl. Since Gabby is such a young dog, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion. Gabby will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through being exposed to many different situations out in the world. Positive reinforcement group obedience classes would be perfect for Gabby. It does take a bit of time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the outside world with appropriate behavior.

We're open to Gabby finding her forever home with active retirees with lots of energy and time to train and enjoy a young dog. Gabby is known to do very well with gentle children and would enjoy the fun a family with kids would offer. Other dogs are great companions for Gabby as well..she's appropriate and fun-loving in her play.

Gabby will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 2/10/17. If interested in this very sweet and devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
