Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Jenkins" is a cute 2-year old male Beagle/Hound mix who has been in a wonderful foster home since October 30, 2016 and is ready to find a loving home with a family of his very own :)
"Jenkins" has an apricot-and-white short smooth coat, rather long legs, a long tail, and a beautiful face with a dusting of white on his muzzle, a black button nose, and extra-large velvety ears. This little guy wants attention so badly but he is apprehensive about whom he can trust in order to accept their attention.
"Jenkins" has been in two foster homes and their experience was similar until they gained his trust. He was so very frightened and didn't want to make eye contact with his foster family :( "Jenkins" went into defensive mode and did what he could to avoid people (which was to hide from them) :( :( Gradually his last foster mother gained his trust, and he has actually been sleeping in the bed with his foster parents. He comes each morning for petting sessions and gently licks his foster mom's hands and wags his tail :)
Though "Jenkins" has been slow slow to warm up to other family members, his foster mother feels that he will bond strongly with another special person. He loves to follow her around when she is doing chores or walking outside and cuddles next to her when she is watching tv.
"Jenkins" is very mild-mannered and would probably do best in a quiet home without small children. He is not aggressive in any way but merely needs a person with a gentle, patient, and loving heart who will see his potential and cherish the bond you will achieve with him. "Jenkins" has the most soulful loving eyes once you earn his trust, and he looks to you to reassure him that all is ok.
"Jenkins" is a small boy who weighs approximately 30 lbs. He has been neutered and has been given rabies vaccine. "Jenkins" would be required to have a fenced-in yard (with supervision) until he trusts his new family and we would highly recommend walking him with a harness so that he feels more secure.
Thanks to Jenkins' foster mother for providing most of the material for his description :) If you would like to learn more about this special dog, please contact our HSOV shelter manager (Misty Carpenter) by calling 740.373.5959 or by sending an email to manager@hsov.org Misty can arrange for you to meet Jenkins and/or to talk with his foster mother who knows him best <3
