My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET MACARONI -

Our wonderful, sweet little Macaroni is looking for a kind, loving adoptive family (or foster to adopt) where he can live out his forever with hospice support. This SUPER SWEET 9.5 year old miniature 5lb Isabella grey colored. Isabella dachshunds are a lovely, unique grey, violet color and most have little to no hair...just like little Macaroni. Our little guy is even more unique because one of his parents was a wirehaired doxie, which is why his face area is wire-haired.

Unfortunately, little Macaroni came to Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc with a long list of medical problems, including a heart condition but the good news update is that he does NOT need a pacemaker. He also has an oropharyngeal fistula and being starved. MACARONI truly DOES enjoy his life though. He was fully vetted at our doxie vet, had a full dental with extractions and he is feeling so much better. He is doing very well in his current foster home, loves to eat, is not in any pain and LOVES to play. Do you know anyone who can open their heart and home to this little fella?

MACARONI will do best as the only child in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.

Like all Dachshunds, MACARONI is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, MACARONI needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. There is no adoption fee for this little doxie, but we are requesting a donation of $175 to help with medical costs for other doxies in our care. Many come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give MACARONI a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
