Halston (now Milo)'s Story...

Halston is 1.5 years (birthday is 4/14/15) who weighs around 18 lbs.   He had earned his Canine Good Citizen certificate, so he does have some basic training knowledge.  He seems to be fully housebroken; he runs to the door when he needs to go outside, and seemingly also knows to use potty pads too.  He’s incredibly smart and full of energy. Loves to cuddle and has had a blast playing with other pups. He’s very active with his toys, loves to throw them around, play tug.

Great on his leash, either a harness or martingale type collar.  He can be easily overwhelmed while out on walks in NYC; he’s fine with other dogs as they pass by, and no typical noises (skateboard, sirens, etc.) seem to bother him…but when he’s crowded around (by people or dogs) he seems to retreat back.  At the dog parks…he does pretty good overall.   Definitely a little overwhelmed if there’s a large number of dogs, but he’s curious and wants to know more about everyone there.

He’s fine to be picked up, sometimes he’ll make a strange Iggy noise but we’ve had no issues with him fully softening into our arms for a hug.  Not a big barker, the only time we’ve heard him bark is when he needs to go out, or when all of the pups are playing.

Halston likes to start the night in bed with his owners, but then ends up not he floor in his own bed.  He’s on a 2x daily feeding schedule, once in the AM and once at dinner time. He is fully crate trained.  Overall he is such a sweet, loving pup - so far it just seems like he wants to cuddle and play…perfect Iggy.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Halston (now Milo), a Westbury Italian Greyhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Italian Greyhound for sale in Westbury, or seeking a Italian Greyhound dog from a breeder in Westbury.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Westbury already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Westbury breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Italian Greyhound breeders who help with Italian Greyhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Westbury paves the way for another one to be saved.
