Hello! My name is Dwight and I'm a two year old sweetie who needs a very special home. You see, when I first come to the shelter, I was absolutely terrified. It took a few days, but I finally let the staff interact with me and now all I want are belly rubs and pets! I LOVE attention, I'm just not sure how to ask for it so you have to take it really slow with me at first. I would like a home that does not have any children, as they easily stress me out. I'm looking for a quiet home that understands I will need some time to adjust. But boy, once I trust you, I will never leave your side. My new favorite thing to do is wrap my arms around you and hug you! I'm so happy I learned to love humans because I'm loving the attention I get from them. Don't you want to rescue me?Cat adoption fees are generally $109 (plus tax), unless otherwise noted, and dog adoption fees are $169 (plus tax), unless otherwise noted. Adoption fees include necessary vaccinations, a microchip, testing (FeLV/FIV for cats and heartworm test for dogs) and spaying/neutering of every animal that is adopted from our facility. If the animal is too young for sterilizing, the adopter is responsible to see that this is done. Once we receive confirmation that the adopted animal has been altered, a refund will be refunded ($75 for dogs and $40 for cats).

About Homeward Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

We are a small shelter that rescues pets from local impounds whose time is up, and would otherwise be euthanized. Because we only have 9 dog kennels and 17 cat kennels, we are very limited on space and often, we can't take in owner surrenders, but will do our best to help people in rehoming their pets. We offer several services besides adoption, including microchip clinics, pet-friendly rental housing listings, and Safe Paws (foster care for the pets of domestic violence). We are the only shelter in the FM area that rescues both cats and dogs, so without our help, hundreds of dogs and cats would be euthanized each year in local pounds.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our shelter is in north Fargo, near the Yunker's Children's Museum, located just off of University Dr. on 28th Ave. N. We are open Monday-Friday from 11am-7pm, Saturday from 10am-6pm and Sunday 12pm-4pm. We have adoption events throughout the year, and you can find more information on our website at or our Facebook page,

Our Adoption Process...

Adopters are required to fill out an application before adoption, and we process the application by the end of the following business day. All adopters must be 18 years of age or older. Once approved the fees for adoption are $109 for cats and $169 for dogs. Adopters must complete an adoption contract at the time of adoption.
