Meet Sonny! We got Sonny from the Nacogdoches animal shelter after he was taken in with 14 others from one home. Sonny is a yorkie/Terrier mix that is about 1 1/2-2 years old. He is about 10 lbs and and is full grown. He is great with all dogs, seems to be good with both big and small. He loves being in his little bed and will even tuck himself in at night. He enjoys getting attention from you. We haven't seen much playing with toys and other dogs but it is also very new and he is probably somewhat displaced. He is house trained for the most part but still has a tendency to have accidents in the house but he is crate trained. He is use to using a doggy door too. We are not sure how he is with cats or children. But we do suspect because of his personality he would do fine. He has had all vaccinations, neutered, and is heart worm negative and on monthly prevention. He will be microchipped prior to adoption.

From his foster:   Sonny is very shy, he took a long time to warm up to us. He is housebroken and will always tell you when he needs to go out (he's great with that!!) He is ok with children, he is a one person pup, so he took to me and doesn't really allow anyone else t o get too close. He does let the baby pet & play with him but he's shy to older kids and did nip my niece when she tried to pet him while he was lying down. I don't crate him, he does good in the house or outside while I'm at work.

About Fur-Giving Hearts Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a nonprofit 501C3 organization dedicated to helping neglected and distressed cats and dogs and getting them the help they need. Saving animals and finding them the help they need and placing them in a loving home is so rewarding to us. We are not selective in which animals we rescue. They all deserve a chance no matter their color, breed or condition. We know that we cant save them all, but our thinking is "Why not try?"

Come Meet Our Pets...

We do not have regularly planned adoption events. Like us on Facebook to see posts for events planned.

Our Adoption Process...

There is an adoption application we require to be filled out and approved first. We check a vaccination history and heartworm prevention history by calling the veterinarian listed on the application.

There is a home visit prior to adoption. Some times this isn't possible because of the distance and in that case we make other arrangements.

We also require a meet and greet. If out of state the adopter would pay for a health certificate to travel across state lines. Usually this is around $20.00 in addition to the adoption fee. The adoption fee ranges based on the animal.
