I'm "Clarice" and I'm a 7-year old white and black cat. I came to the shelter with a BB in my hip, so I walk with a limp right now. I've been to visit the nice vet and am on the mend. That means I'm ready for a nice someone to cuddle up with me. I'm looking for a long-term commitment; someone to spend my entire life with. Give me a spot in the sun and a few treats to nibble on, and I'll be fine while you're gone. Stretch out on the sofa and give me a lap to rest on, and I'll be fine when you're home.

I'm yours simply for a donation to the shelter. Bring in something from our wish list, and I'm yours!

About Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

We are an animal shelter that cares for approximately 1,000 animals per year. We work with Mahaska County and the City of Oskaloosa, IA to provide animal control services and we also work through the Mahaska Humane Society to educate and promote responsible pet ownership as well as low cost spay/neuter services for low income pet owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The public can visit our adoptable pets at the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter any time during normal business hours. We are open to the public Tuesday-Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-4pm.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete a pre-adoption application in which questions regarding responsible pet ownership are asked. Once approved the adopter is allowed to adopt and must pay an adoption fee which varies based on the age and species of the animal being adopted. At the time of adoption the adopter must sign an adoption contract. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
