Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Misty is a beautiful Australian Shepherd mix, about 2 years old, who was surrendered to the shelter because her favorite meal is chicken and eggs - even if the chickens are still moving and the eggs are raw. She has a very sweet, slightly timid nature, and will follow you wherever you go. She is learning about play, and we are hopeful she will figure out fetch soon (ha). She cowers sometimes when we reach toward her to pet her, and is frightened of being brushed and of the camera (!), but those fears should improve as she has more time to learn about trust and kindness. She responds very well to children, and is timid around some adults until she gets to know them.
Unlike most Australian Shepherd mixes, Misty would actually do fine as a city/apartment dog, as long as she got to have regular daily exercise and adventures. She is not good with cats, small furries, poultry, or most livestock/farm animals, and is selective about her dog companions. She would love to be an only pet, or you may schedule an appointment to bring your dog to the shelter to meet Misty to see if they like each other (please complete the application prior to scheduling your meet and greet appointment).
Misty is about a 1/3 couch size dog - under 50 pounds and just the right size to share your cozy loveseat during Lifetime movies, or to squeeze in next to you in your oversized recliner to watch a sporting event. She is housetrained, very attentive and smart, treat-motivated, and ready to learn whatever you want to teach her, from simple commands to agility training to advanced tricks. She will respond well to positive, treat-and-praise based training methods; she has a fragile, sensitive soul that needs to feel kindness and love to blossom. We think Misty is the type of dog that will bond very tightly with her chosen person, and she is ready to be your shadow through life.
Misty comes with a 30-day money-back trial adoption period.
Spay/neuter, deworming, microchip and all age-appropriate shots are always completed before placement, and are included in the adoption fee (suggested minimum $95; more gratefully accepted!)
Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your payment to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
