My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hubba Hubba! This stunningly handsome fellow was rescued from a rural southern kill shelter where hounds are routinely euthanized for space due to massive overpopulation. Jethro's shelter name was "Goofy" which actually suits him well. He is a goofy guy and loves everyone. He is great with other dogs, and hounds make great family pets. He was fostered in one of our North Carolina foster homes with other dogs and very young children and had no issues with either the kids or the dogs. Jethro is estimated to be about 1-2 years old, is about 50lbs. and is pretty much finished growing. Jethro is housebroken and loves to sleep in his foster parents bedroom with the other dogs. Jethro is just now learning how to walk well on a leash, as we believe he spent his first 1-2 years of life just roaming freely outdoors. He is playful and loving and extremely affectionate and who can resist his handsome looks? His coloring and markings are sure to make people stop and stare!

Jethro has been neutered, de-wormed, is heartworm negative and is on HW prevention as well as flea and tick prevention. He is up to date on all vaccines and has received a clean bill of health!

Hounds make wonderful family pets. They are intelligent and loyal and very eager to please. We were not able to place him in a foster home with cats, so we are unsure how he will do, but he is pretty submissive so we expect with proper introductions he will be fine.

Jethro is looking for an active family that wants to include him in their activities. He would love a large fenced yard and another dog or two to play with. He still has some puppy in him and can be destructive, so a patient owner that understands he is still growing up and learning rules is important.

Jethro will be available for visiting this Sunday, April 2, 2017, at the Petco at 545 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, Md from 12pm-3pm. Applications sent in ahead of the adoption event preferred!
