My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

3-2-17 Scooter is a young terrier mix. He is less than 2 years old. He weighs 8.5 pounds. He is being fostered in Leesburg, FL.

Scooter's adoption fee is $395 and includes all vetting (neuter/spay, dental cleaning, immunizations, microchip and chip registration). A Vet reference, personal references, and home visit are required for adoption. You may apply to adopt Scooter by going to our website at www.unitedyorkierescue.org and completing the adoption application located on our home page.

Scooter has his vet visit which included a complete blood panel. Everything checked out and little Scooter is just perfect except for his Urinary Tract Infection that we have been fighting for 3 weeks now.

He was on two rounds of antibiotics for the UTI and still there are crystals in his urine. The next step is a urine culture to see why there are still crystals in his urine and what needs to be done to dissolve them. He is on a special medication that hopefully will start to dissolve the crystals. Once that happens he will be able to be adopted. He has already has his neuter, his vaccinations are all up to date, and he has been microchipped.

Scooter’s foster parents have learned quite a bit about little Scooter since he arrived at his foster home. He is friendly to everyone. He gets along with the other dogs in the house. He especially loves his people. He likes to cuddle up next to them and sit on their lap and give lots of love. He likes to be with near them all the time. Being not quite 2 years old Scooter does have young dog energy and he really likes to play. He may love another young dog in his forever home who would be happy to have another puppy playmate, however he loves to be the center of attention and get all the love and cuddling for himself. Scooter tends to be a little submissive so another dog in the house cannot be an alpha to him. Having a dog dominate him would make him unhappy. He loves his belly rubbed and will roll over on his back for his belly rub as much as he can get someone to rub his nice soft belly. His tail wags like crazy when he sees his people. He is just such a sweet, loving dog who only wants to give and get love.

Scooter is a great eater, he likes car rides, and he walks nicely on a leash, but a fenced yard to run around in would be more to his liking. Scooter will sleep all night in his doggie crate, though he would rather be on the bed with his people if given a choice. There is only one thing about Scooter that isn’t so good. He is not yet totally house trained. He will do his business outside if he is taken out often, and since coming to his foster home this has improved quite a bit. He is learning proper house training manners. He will also use the potty pad on occasion, but taking him out often would help so much with his continued house training.

Scooter’s ideal foster home would have someone home a lot of the time to help him with his house training and because he loves his people so much. He may also love another submissive young pup to play with and a fenced yard would be great. Don’t pass this little guy by. He is one great pup who only wants to please and be loved.

Please remember that Scooter is only about 1.5 years old. He really needs a forever family that is active and can give him a lifetime commitment.
