My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

GUEST DOG

Roscoe is not a DREAM dog and is being listed as a courtesy to a Good Samaritan to try to keep him out of the overcrowded rescue and shelter system. If you are interested in making this sweetheart part of YOUR family, please let us know and we will put you in touch with Roscoe's foster parent.

Hi! I am Roscoe and I am looking for a new home. I'm almost 6 years old and I just love to play and snuggle with humans including children. Like many small breed dogs, I could use some coaching in the house training department. I'm aware of my "problem" and I do well in a crate so I'm on the road to mastering the whole "potty outside" trick. I've been told I have something called a high prey drive. Not sure exactly what that is, but I do have a proven record for chicken hunting, so no small furry or feathered companions for me unless you want me to rustle up dinner. I 'm a friendly guy and I like to hang with some canine friends, but others I would rather avoid so would be best to meet any possible future canine family members before signing off on the adoption. If I had a choice, I think I would do best in a home with a family who has experience with Dachshunds since I am one and I act like one. They tell me I've been neutered( whoa, now that's a story) and UTD with vaccines til May, 2017 and I take monthly heartworm prevention. So, if you are looking to add a spunky little guy to your family, and want to make me the happiest Dachshund ever, please let DREAM know you would like to know more about me.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
