Hold on to me as we go As we roll down this unfamiliar road And although this wave, wave is stringing us along
Just know you're not alone 'Cause I'm gonna make this place your home- from 'Home' by Phillip Phillips
Homero has been down all kinds of unfamiliar roads, sadly most have not been good places. Thankfully this has all changed for our big beautiful goofy boy! Homero is a very handsome black flat coat retriever estimated to be between 3 and 4 years old, and to his thinking, an acceptable lap size of 50 lbs. Homero has a sweet loving personality and is accepting of all he meets. He is great with all people but we do think he is better suited to bigger kids and not toddlers due to his really happy tail and the fact that he sees himself as a much smaller boy. Homero is a really friendly boy who gets along really well with other dogs. He is curious about cats but only in a playful way. Our big sweet lug is already house and crate trained. He does possess the 'counter surfer' gene as do many retrievers but foster mom is diligently working with him on this. When it comes to going for walks and behaving on leash, Homero is one awesome dude! He's an affectionate guy who loves to cuddle...really close. We happen to think he's better than a blanket, especially on those cold winter nights. Homero loves treats and we have it on good authority that he is very treat motivated so odds are you have a pretty good chance of teaching this not so old dog a few new tricks. Homero is already neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, current on preventatives, and micro chipped. No longer alone, he has made the journey from unwanted shelter dog to well loved foster pup. Next stop for our boy is a forever home with a forever loving family. He (and we) would love nothing more than to hear those beautiful words 'I'm gonna make this place your home.'

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Homero, a SOUTHINGTON Flat-Coated Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Flat-Coated Retriever for sale in SOUTHINGTON, or seeking a Flat-Coated Retriever dog from a breeder in SOUTHINGTON.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in SOUTHINGTON already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a SOUTHINGTON breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Flat-Coated Retriever breeders who help with Flat-Coated Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in SOUTHINGTON paves the way for another one to be saved.
