Bernice is an energetic, cuddly Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. She’s seven years old, and is still very spry and enthusiastic. Bernice is approximately 12 pounds. She is partially house-trained, and responds well to positive reinforcement. She has used dog doors in the past, but does not currently have access to one. Bernice can be around other animals, but would be best suited as a single pet. Bernice loves to cuddle, enjoys treats, walks, and occasionally likes to chew on old socks!
Bernice does have some anxious tendencies, such as chasing/chewing her tail when she hears loud noises or becomes overwhelmed. To treat her anxiety, we have introduced a Thundershirt, which has been effective in calming her nerves. She also has dry skin which causes her to occasionally rub up against furniture and people. We’ve been using an oatmeal based no-rinse shampoo (Wahl brand, $6) to help relieve itchiness.Bernice is a great companion and very affectionate. She would do well in a home that is quiet, with a human who can take her on walks and lets her cuddle up to them day or night. She has a lot of love to give, she’s just looking for the right environment in which to thrive!
