Lucy, an older lady looking for a nice retirement home.  She's somewhere north of 10+, but has plenty of spunk and energy left.  She originally came from Harnett county, NC, and is glad to have escaped !  She loves to run around the yard just doing her thing.  She gets along fine with all other creatures, and loves to eat as only a hound can !  She's a lovely old gal, and has lots of stories to tell.  She'd really like to be in a home with other dogs for company, but could make do as an only child with plenty of human attention.  She's been spayed and has no known health issues, other than 'old age'.  If you'd like to give an old gal a place to live, email Dee at .

About Mutt Love Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Mutt Love Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill, volunteer dog rescue organization serving the Washington, DC, metro area. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs left homeless for whatever reason – dogs in public shelters where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation, dogs given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect.

We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives.

Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. To the extent our finances allow, dogs in the greatest need take priority.

We are determined to keep administrative expenses extremely low so that virtually every dollar taken in goes directly to the care of the animals. Our group remains interested in and committed to the welfare of the dog beyond the adoption process.

Finally, we strive to work with area shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets.

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in our process is the application which can be completed either online or at one of our adoption events. We would then conduct an interview with all members of the household. We do a vet reference if applicable, and lastly, we do a home visit. Our adoption fee is $285 and all dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on all required vaccines, tested for heartworm and tickborne diseases, and on year-round heartworm preventative. Lastly, all dogs are microchipped.
