Facts about Simon

  • Breed: Border Collie Mix
  • Color: Black - With White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Male
We rescued Simon from a hoarding situation in July, 2016, along with his mama Mickey and papa Marty, who are also in our rescue. Their rescuer meant well but kept them in tiny, outside kennels in the sand that was covered in fleas. With tarp and a dog house for shelter, he was isolated, lonely, depressed, and very scared. He had to endure the elements - thunderstorms, loud noises, etc., with nobody there to comfort him. When we met him he was very withdrawn and shutdown. It was very heartbreaking, yet we were able to see his potential - able to see the dog he could become, with some love, attention, and understanding. Simon is currently staying at a rescue in North Augusta, South Carolina where he's getting great care and attention - but we're hoping that sweet, lovable Simon will find his hero and permanent soft place to fall, so he can thrive and become the dog he's meant to be. Due to being so isolated and unsocialized from the beginning of his life, and only receiving attention from his rescuer, Simon is very leary and untrusting at first. But in time, we've seen him start to break out of his shell - he greets us with a lot of excitment, lets us cuddle him and give him kisses - he loves it - it just takes him a while to let his guard down. He is very friendly, submissive, and would do well with an experienced adopter - someone with a lot of patience and understanding, who enjoys the challenges and rewards of caring for a special needs dog like Simon. He needs another hero - is it you?
