My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dixie is looking for a new home. His current guardians travel a lot and feel he needs someone with more time to give him the attention he deserves. He is a medium-sized dog, approximately 35 lbs, and is about 4 1/2 years old. He is Miniature Pinscher mixed with unknown other breeds. Dixie is neutered and up to date on vaccinations (vet records available).

Dixie has a lot going for him. He is house-trained and can be left alone. He is a big personality with plenty of energy - loves walks, dog parks and running/playing with other dogs. He loves human attention. For someone who has time and patience to work on training, Dixie is treat motivated and a quick learner. He bonds to his people and will cuddle under the covers if you let him. If you play him harmonica music, he will sing in accompaniment. He loves his squeaky toys.

Being part MinPin, Dixie does have some of the breed's characteristic guarding instinct. Although he is basically a lover and friendly, he is initially apprehensive with strangers and may protect you by barking at them. However, when guests visit the home he calms down when he realizes they are friendly to his owner. Another thing he is protective of is his food dish; he doesn't like anyone, dogs included, around his food and will snap. It is for this reason Dixie should go to an adults-only home where people are savvy with handling this situation. Small children would make him nervous.

Dixie has favorite toys, food, and many accessories that can accompany him to his new home if desired.
