Smokey's Story...
Smokey is a 2-4 year old Blue Heeler. Smokey was found as a stray, in rural Tennessee. The people that found him tried to locate his owners for weeks. They finally contacted us, unable to keep him any longer. Once he came to us, we found that he had heartworms. He has been treated and on the road to recovery! He is ready for a home to call his own. Smokey is pretty mellow. He doesn't mind other dogs, but hasn't shown a lot of enthusiasm to play with them. He has been through a lot of changes and ready to settle down. He is looking for a calmer laid back home. He is currently in foster, in Tennessee and all potential adopters can speak with his foster mom. He would be transported to his adopters.
He is neutered and UTD on his vaccinations. He is microchipped and on a flea and heartworm preventative to continue his heartworm treatment. Adopters will be expected to continue monthly doses of heartworm preventative.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Smokey, a Windham Blue Heeler/Australian Cattle Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Blue Heeler/Australian Cattle Dog for sale in Windham, or seeking a Blue Heeler/Australian Cattle Dog dog from a breeder in Windham.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Windham already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Windham breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Blue Heeler/Australian Cattle Dog breeders who help with Blue Heeler/Australian Cattle Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Windham paves the way for another one to be saved.
