People have called me Shadow since I was just a little puppy. But you can call me anything you want if you are the person that adopts me and give me a new home. Let me tell me about myself so that you can know a little about me and perhaps you will want to be that person.
My pictures are up for you to see, but please understand that I will look better than those photos when my hair grows back! I was so matted when I came into the kennel that I had to be completely shaved down – right to the skin. So please, for now, just concentrate on my big brown eyes, and try to imagine me with my nice silky coat all grown out. My description says “poodle mix” and you’re probably curious about what the non-poodle part is. Some say it might be dachshund because my body is a bit on the long side and my legs a bit short, though not as short as a dachshund. Sound logical to me, but who knows. Your guess is as good as mine; I never met my dad.
if you already have a dog or two, that shouldn’t stop you from adding me to your family. I get along famously with other dogs, though I’m best with dogs that aren’t too alpha. My foster mom has cats too and I’m fine with them too if they’re dog savvy cats that don’t run from me (I say that because if they run, I might forget myself and chase them, but if they look me in the eye, they win!). And, of course, I like people and am nice with everyone I meet here at the kennel. And if one of the volunteers invites me to sit on his or her lap, I am just in heaven. I love it when the volunteers take me for walks, and I am pretty polite on the leash, but I could use a little more leash training so that I don’t forget and pull when I’m excited.
To sum up, I am a gentle, polite, well adjusted dog (and housebroken!) that would be a good companion for you if you choose me, and I am hoping that you do. So this is Shadow here saying so long until we meet and begin our life together, which could happen very soon if you make an appointment to come to the kennel. Maybe you could do that right now so you don’t forget?

The necessary first step to inquire about any dog, is to complete the NCPR Adoption Interest Form. Once we receive the NCPR Adoption Interest Form, a volunteer will contact you promptly. We need your information to match you with the perfect companion. NorCal Poodle Rescue places dogs within northern California only.
