Mottzie - Adoption Pending's Story...
Mottzie is a Boxer/Pit Bull Terrier-mix, male, 1.25 years of age.

Amiable, affectionate, sensitive, tranquil, happy-to-be-around, and straight-up, authentic couch-potato, the unperturbable, strikingly handsome, Mottzie is, above all else, a very trusting, loyally devoted young canine who genuinely loves people. Extremely social, genuinely sincere, and faithfully steadfast, this handsome boy craves companionship, and he’ll want to spend as much time as possible with his family members who he’ll form deep bonds with.

Animated, lively, curious, at times spunky and playful, Mottzie, in spite of being a pretty undemanding and laid-back dog, still needs regular mental stimulation and physical activity to stay happy and healthy. His modest exercise needs will easily be met with interactive outdoor romps, regular leashed walks, and adventurous outings alongside family members who he’ll, of course, be wholeheartedly devoted to. Having a fenced yard where he can run, play, and explore with family members and on his own will be a huge bonus for Mottzie too.

Barely more than a puppy, Mottzie is looking for responsible, caring owners who will appreciate a high-functioning young pup and provide him with all the attention, leadership, and companionship he needs and deserves for the rest of his life. In spite of his youth, he consistently shows himself to be an extremely intelligent and obedient canine who learns commands easily and is quick to please when he knows what is expected of him.

When outdoors on leash, he is well-mannered, but still somewhat puppy-like and pretty interested/easily distracted which means he sometimes forgets his canine good manners and wants to pull on the leash. With firm guidance and patient follow-through though, he redirects from distractions easily and falls into step quickly. No doubt, Mottzie will enjoy and benefit from training and socialization classes -- this will also be an excellent way to bond with him as well as to reinforce good canine manners.

Mottzie is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a low-active to moderately-active lifestyle. Outgoingly social and always friendly, Mottzie currently lives in foster home with other dogs and young children -- all who he enjoys the company of and gets along well with. A people-pleasing, confident, very well-behaved young pup, he enjoys meeting new people and will continue to benefit from positive social experiences. He’s also crate-trained and very comfortable meeting and interacting with children of all ages. (Mottzie loves children and he is very gentle with them). As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable dogs, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.

You can meet Mottzie at Monroe SPCA adoption events and by pre-arrangement with approved Adoption Application. All Monroe SPCA dogs available for adoption and in foster homes have an adoption fee of $200.00. This fee includes the dog being spayed or neutered, HW negative, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, and micro-chipped prior to adoption.
