My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Stella is a Pit Bull Terrier-mix, female, 2 years of age.

Don’t be fooled, this engaging little lovebug with the sweetly angelic face, while fawningly adoring and entirely devoted, is one-part comedian, one-part diva, and one-part mischievous imp. A good-natured, warm-hearted canine who genuinely loves people, Stella thrives on human companionship and close contact, and she’ll need lots of both in her new life. Extremely generous with her affection and faithful in her loyalty, Stella manages to combine in perfect proportions a happy-to-be-around, somewhat casual approach to life with an always cheerful, enthusiastic upbeat personality and entirely sweet-nature.

Lively, animated, inquisitive, and pretty playful, she’ll need regular mental stimulation and physical activity to stay fit and happy. Also intelligent with an exceptionally high learning ability and motivated more by praise than by treats (she does love treats though); Stella’s got a good work ethic and will appreciate being challenged and given an opportunity to learn new things. She’ll also benefit from and really enjoy additional training and socialization classes – this will be an excellent way to bond with her as well as to reinforce good canine manners. Without a doubt, she’ll excel in obedience and just about any other activity she participates in.

From her cute little button-nose all the way to her enthusiastically wagging tail-tip, Stella’s a genuine people-pleaser – an extremely friendly and social canine. Also sensitive and wholly sincere with an openly trusting and increasingly confident disposition, she’ll continue to be a calm, well-behaved housedog so long as she is included in family activities and her exercise needs are met with interactive outdoor activities and regular leashed walks.

Stella is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active to moderately-active lifestyle. Straight-up 100% total-package canine family companion, Stella is looking for responsible, caring owners willing to provide daily structure, regular exercise, consistent leadership, lifelong companionship, and a whole lot of love and attention. Although Stella will need a home without cats, she has shown herself to be extremely social and friendly with other dogs, quick to invite play with them; we think she’ll do well in a home with a compatible dog she has been properly introduced to, particularly one of similar-size and opposite-sex. As with all of our dogs, however, a home visit and meet-n-greet with any housemate dogs will be required prior to adoption.

You can meet Stella at Monroe SPCA adoption events and by pre-arrangement with approved Adoption Application. All Monroe SPCA dogs available for adoption and in foster homes have an adoption fee of $200.00. This fee includes the dog being spayed or neutered, HW negative, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, and micro-chipped prior to adoption.
