My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roxy is a Miniature Pinscher-mix, female, 1.5 years of age.

Elegant, slender, and fine boned, a warmth-seeking, comfort-loving young dog who if not shadowing her people, then certainly she’ll be found basking in a ray of sun shine, snuggling in a favorite bed, or hidden under a warm comfy blanket.

Extremely gentle and trusting, social and friendly with other dogs and cats, Roxy is a beautifully put together blend of fawningly devoted, dependence and high-spirited, independence; Roxy needs a loving, trustworthy, and responsible pack-leader/owner who has some experience with the busy inquisitiveness, near fanatical attentiveness, and somewhat easily distractible, but oh so quick to melt-your-heart, marvelous Min Pin personality.

Outgoing and affectionate with those she knows and trusts -- very polite, Roxy is a highly sensitive dog, particularly to tone and to touch, and she will NOT respond well to any harsh discipline. An attentive and intelligent canine who learns quickly and aims to please when she knows what is expected of her, she’s also a warm-hearted, extremely peaceful, and entirely sincere girl who responds eagerly to calm, upbeat training that emphasizes cheerful praise and food rewards for accomplishment. All things an experienced Min Pin owner will be familiar with.

Animated, lively, curious, spunky, and sometimes playful with spurts of reckless abandon, Roxy lives for companionship; she can be uninhibited with her affection and likes to share kisses and snuggles. If not shadowing her people, she’s to be found close-by seeking warmth under a blanket. In a nutshell, clear and consistent expectations, continued socialization, calm leadership, regular mental and physical exercise, and a whole lot of love will help ensure her health and happiness and establish her place as a cherished, extremely well-mannered family companion and pet.

An unquestioning loyal and uninhibitedly loving dog, Roxy is best suited for a calm, mostly quiet, low-to moderately active home without active, young children. Like many dogs, particularly those of the toy breeds, she can easily be injured and has the potential to become snappy, depressed, or timid if not protected from overactive or unruly children or any forms of loud, harsh, or disrespectful treatment.

With classic light-footed gracefulness and brimming enthusiasm, this darling little girl has the ability to switch from lazing, couch potato to racy, agile athlete in an instant. Because of this and her small size, we would prefer Roxy’s new home have a secure fence where she can safely romp, play, explore, and stretch out in a full-out run occasionally. It is also important that Roxy’s new owner understand she must always be accompanied by an adult family member when outdoors – she should never be left unattended for any period of time. And when out and about, she must always be secured on a leash for her own safety. Roxy also gets along very well with the canines and felines she currently lives in a foster home with, however, a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be necessary prior to Roxy’s adoption.

You can meet Roxy at Monroe SPCA adoption events and by pre-arrangement with approved Adoption Application. All Monroe SPCA dogs available for adoption and in foster homes have an adoption fee of $200.00. This fee includes the dog being spayed or neutered, HW negative, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, and micro-chipped prior to adoption.
