This adorable little lady is Lucille, a 2 year old terrier that would just love a fresh start in life. Lucille came to us from our Newark facility after she was turned in for getting a bit protective of her new adoptive home. The poor girl originally came in as a stray that was sickly and neglected, so she really has had a rough time of it. Lucille is a little shy when she first meets people but if you just give her time to check you out, she will love you in no time. Once Lucille is comfortable with you, you will see her whole demeanor change. She stands on her hind legs for attention, she will lean against you while you scratch her back, and she bonds very quickly with people. Lucille has had training and sits immediately when asked. She also offers you a pawshake in friendship and is so gentle with taking treats. Lucille would love a quiet, commotion-free home without a lot of visitors going in and out. She will bond quickly with her family but may be timid around strangers, so she will need a safe place to retreat to when guests come by. She will need a home with no children but she is ok with most dogs she meets. If you can offer Lucille the safe and loving home that she's dreaming of, come in and meet our little lady.
