My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Special needs senior needs a home where she can be the only pet! Location: St. Louis, Missouri.

Poppy adores people. All she wants is a lap to sit in and someone to love her. As long as she can’t see any dogs or other cats, she’s the sweetest and most docile cat you could ask for. She loves to cuddle next to you on the couch or sit next to the tub purring while you bathe.

Poppy's had quite a streak of bad luck. Estimated to be 15 years old, she was declawed by someone in her past. Somehow she found herself on the street as a senior. To make matters worse, her declaw surgery resulted in bone fragments sprouting out and splintering, so that she walked with a limp. We had her botched declaw repaired, but we will never know the pain she endured for so many years. Poppy also has Eosinophilic granuloma, a treatable and noncontagious condition where immune cells cause ulcers by mistakenly releasing the inflammatory response—she needs a daily medication and limited-ingredient food to keep the condition under control.

Because she is terrified of other animals, in her current foster home, Poppy is confined to the bathroom. This is no life for such a loving cat. We feel it is urgent to get Poppy into a permanent home or another foster home where she can be the only pet. As a special needs senior cat, Poppy is eligible for our “permanent foster” program--- we would pay for her medical care and prescription food for the rest of her life. So please do not let her medical costs turn you away!

If you could provide Poppy with a lap and attention, she would just love you to pieces. It would be truly lovely if her luck took a turn for the better and she could spend the rest of her life in a real home. If you have no other pets, won’t you please reach out to Poppy?
