Facts about Gershon

  • Breed: Labrador Retriever
  • Color: Black
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: 11090413-D2017047
“Gersh” as he is fondly called, is friendly, loveable and really, really smart!! He is 1.5 to 2 years old and is fully grown at the 65-70 lbs range. Gersh is mostly black but has beautiful lighter flecks of brown color in his coat. He is very unique-looking and is a gorgeous boy! You have to come meet him and check out his beautiful coat!

He plays well with others as he is always around many dogs of different sizes and personalities in his foster home. Gersh will do well in a crate when you are not at home or he loves to run around outside and play. He loves taking walks with you and being really active or he is also cool with just hanging out on a couch curled up with your favorite TV show.

Since he is so smart, we have already been able to teach him commands such as: fetch, sit, and down in the short time we have known him! We are currently working on house breaking but know he will get there quickly as he is so smart! He is the perfect cheerleader to help everyone in the the family with chores. Afterwards, he would love to join the family in the backyard and go for a swim to just relax and enjoy the day. He is an absolute dream!

Are you looking for a best pal or a new brother to add to your fur baby family?
Check Gersh out! He gets along with everyone and is so, so smart!

The adoption includes age appropriate vaccinations, worming, rabies vaccination, heartworm test, neuter, and microchip including registration. Gersh is heartworm negative.

About Shelter2Rescue Coalition

About Our Rescue Group...

Shelter2Rescue Coalition is an all-volunteer rescue organization dedicated to the safe-rehoming of shelter animals. We started as a rescue facilitation organization, helping rural shelters publicize their at-risk dogs, thereby dramatically reducing the need to euthanize for space. Then, as we worked with more shelters, it became very apparent that if we could just buy the dogs up for euthanasia just a little more time, you could save even more lives. The 72-hour hold limit at most shelters just wasn't enough for most dogs to get out. Therefore, we expanded and built partnerships with boarding facilities, transport organizations and other nationwide rescues in order to be able to provide a temporary safe haven for dogs out of time. We have now expanded Shelter2Rescue Coalition to include our own adoption program. Since June 2007, through facilitation and adoption, Shelter2Rescue Coalition volunteers have saved over 2000 dogs and cats.

Our Adoption Process...

We do our best to match up potential adopters with just the right pet as we want to ensure a lifelong placement for the rescued animal. Our adoption process includes an initial application, with home visit, reference and vet checks. If the match is a good one, we then have an adoption contract that is executed. We have a commitment not only to our adopted dogs, but also to the families that adopt them, and we are always available to help with the transition to a new home. We check in during the first few weeks to answer any questions or help with any issues - or to just give you someone to brag to about your new baby. We can't hear that too much!
