01 Feb 17: Basic Information: Apollo is a 7 year old altered American Pit Bull Mix. He was found as a stray many years ago and is being surrendered because the owner has lost his home and has nowhere to keep his dog. Apollo has not seen a vet recently but currently has skin issues. He has had his ear cropped years ago because of an infection. Socialization: Apollo is friendly and outgoing when meeting new people. He has allowed children that pass him outside to pet him. He has spent time with other dogs and he is always very playful and never has snapped or shown teeth at another dog. He has only seen cats outside and he chases them. Behavior: Apollo is alert when we hears sirens or thunder. He is not bothered when his owner removes his food and bones but it is unknown how Apollo would react when a new person would attempt this. Apollo is not bothered when removed from furniture, woken up from sleep, or brushed. It is unknown how he would behave when bathed or having his nails trimmed. Apollo will bark when someone knocks on the door but is friendly when the person enters the home. For a New Family to Know: Apollo is described as friendly, playful, confident, mellow, and excitable. He has a high energy level. Most of his life he has been kept indoors and taken outside for walks but the last 6 months he has lived in a fenced in yard. When he is walked he pulls hard on the leash. He will come when called if off leash unless he sees a dog, he will run towards the dog in a playful manner. He enjoys playing fetch and having chew toys. He is fed dry dog food twice a day. He is house trained and is well behaved indoors and outdoors. He knows the commands sit, paw, let’s go, and get up. Admissions Behavior: Apollo would pull on the leash to meet everyone he saw. He would approach people with his mouth open, tongue out, and a loose body. He was easily collared and scanned. He kept this behavior throughout the admissions process.

About Second Chance Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a small, individual, private rescue group dedicated to giving unwanted dogs and cats a second chance. Most of the animals we rescue are strays and or owner surrenders to high kill city shelters. Many of them have been pulled off “death row”. We are very passionate about what we do, we love and care for these animals unconditionally. Our goal is to place our homeless rescues in permanent loving homes as their former owners have already abandoned them at least once before.

Adoption process includes adoption application, phone interview and home visit. Vet references are checked!

Come Meet Our Pets...

We do not have a physical shelter, we place our rescues in foster homes or boarding facilities where they are socialized and nurtured back to health before we place them in their forever home. If you are interested in adopting a friend, kindly look at our available pet on this site.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption/Foster Application must be completed online via the link below.

Home visit is required along with Vet references. Our full list of fees have been listed on the adoption application. Our dogs come fully vetted and have to be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
