Facts about Lena

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Brown Tabby
  • Age: Young
  • Sex: Female
  • Hair: Short
Lena was born on and was rescued off the streets of Baldwin Park by someone volunteering with The TNR Project. She was starving, alone, cold and hanging out near a trash can trying to find scraps to eat. The volunteer was there to TNR a colony of cats that had been abandoned and swooped Lena up to foster.

Lena is super cute, very sweet and super playful. She doesn't like to be by herself, so she'll need to be adopted as a pair or the adopter needs to have a kitty for her to play with. She gets very sad when she's alone which is probably from her beign alone on the streets.

She's a little shy at first, but when she warms up and realizes you are her human, she is safe and won't go hungry, she'll be your best friend. Cats living on the streets are born running from predators, people and trying to find food to survive. She needs to be reassured you won't abandon her.

Lena has 2 Yorkies of her own, but she is not used to other dogs and will have to acclimate to some new dogs of her own. She also would do better with older kids or kids who are not super boisterous. She definitely gets along with other cats. We would love to find her a home ASAP so she can begin bonding with you!

About The TNR Project

About Our Rescue Group...

The TNR Project humanely & successfully performs TNR which stands for Trap-Neuter-Return. We are a 100% grassroots community movement of volunteers. TNR has been proven to stem community cat growth & overpopulation by controlling the numbers of unwanted cats & kittens on the streets and keep them out of the shelters. We TNR 1000+ cats & kittens every year since 2015. We have classes with FixNation & Alley Cat Allies 3-4x a year to help train people who want to make a difference in their community and to the felines they see. All of the cats & kittens you see here on our site have been born on the streets, abandoned, left to die or worse. They were all community street cats before we stepped in to save them. We do not pull from shelters. We believe that by staying on the streets which is Ground Zero, we will make the difference people are so desperately hoping for....No-Kill Shelters. One shelter we work with experienced a 40% intake decline of cats after we started working their communities. What we prevent from being born on the streets doesn't end up in shelters, being surrendered, being abandoned, clogging the rescues or breeding several times a year with unwanted kittens. We want cats & kittens currently in rescues & shelters to have MORE time available to them to get into a great home...not euthanasia!
We walk the talk and do good where it's needed...on the streets! If you would like more information on TNR or learn how you can help your community cats, please visit: www.thetnrproject.org and fill out a contact us/join us form. Save a stray, save a life! Thank you for rescuing!!
