My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Teddy, another of the beautiful terrier mixes that have come to us recently, is a 1 year old, 9 pound bundle of medium energy canine. Teddy came to his foster home and immediately made it clear that Foster Dad was his preferred companion. After a few days of patient, friendly offerings, he has embraced his foster mom, and she can’t say enough about how he showers her with kisses and even gets a little possessive of her with her own household dogs. He’s crate trained, and he walks well on a leash. His potty training is coming along nicely (foster mom leaves pee pads out, and Teddy never misses), but we all think he will come around to the idea of pottying in the cold! Teddy hasn’t lived with cats or with young children, but he does seem to be a little insecure of the other dogs in the home, and he will snap at them if he wants foster mom’s attention. We could say he has a bit of that ‘small dog’ complex! Foster mom says that his new home will want to be very patient and loving with him as they help him adjust to his new surroundings. He’s a cute as a button, and small enough to fit in a purse, but he does have a big personality, and he does think he knows what he wants. She assures us, though, that once you win this pint size pooch over, you’re all in! She says he is a funny, sweet, loving little guy, but he can be a bit skittish and stand offish at times with those he doesn’t know. With time and patience and firm and gentle approach, we’ve seen many, many dogs make great strides in this area. Teddy does love his toys, he’s learning to sit and stay, and he is certainly learning that both men and women can be trusted. He’s coming around splendidly, and we think he will be a loyal and affectionate companion!
