Momma's Story...
Momma and Mia were both rescued from the streets of Northeast Philadelphia by different people but they were brought together by the same great organization (Forgotten Cats). They were placed in the same foster home and immediately became best friends. Momma was rescued with a litter of 5 newborn babies. Mia was rescued when she was pregnant but her kittens did not survive. When Mia met Momma and saw that she had babies, Mia immediately became their second mom—as they grew, she nursed them, cleaned them, and played with them right alongside Momma. All of the babies have been adopted but these two ladies are still awaiting the right home. They are inseparable and must be adopted together—one cries for the other even if they are placed in separate rooms.

It is estimated that Mia is between 1 and 3 years old and Momma is between 5 and 7. Both have been given a clean bill of health by the veterinarian, are up to date on their shots, and were recently spayed. They are both negative for Feline AIDS and Leukemia. Momma has an old eye injury (from some unknown trauma that she experienced in the past) which looks yucky but doesn’t hurt her at all and doesn’t require any special treatment or medication.

Both are very docile and cuddly—they don’t like to be held but love to be pet (for hours!) and will wait by the door all day for you to come home from work and rub their bellies. They really are the two sweetest cats we’ve ever fostered! Mia will sleep on your bed at night and Momma loves laying on the couch watching TV. Both would be okay in a home that has other cats and they adjust to dogs when introduced slowly. They should be fine with children too.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Momma, a Jenkintown Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Jenkintown, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Jenkintown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Jenkintown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Jenkintown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Jenkintown paves the way for another one to be saved.
