My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

My name is Ethyl and I am a 7 year old female Yorkie / Chihuahua mix who was found as a stray in pretty bad shape. Although NBSAR looked for my family we weren't able to find them so I'm on the lookout for a new family who will love me fur-ever and furever!

I am a sweet little girl weighing about 7 lbs. I was found with lots of fleas that were causing me to itch pretty badly so I scratched my soft fur off in places. My rescuers got rid of the nasty fleas and some medicine to help me stop itching and I'm happy to say I'm on the mend now! I have an umbilical hernia that was never taken care of when I was young that my foster mom says will be repaired when I am spayed next week. I'm up to date on all of my vaccinations, heart worm negative, and the doggy doctor says I have bilateral luxating patellas which means my kneecaps move out of place - but I get around wonderfully so surgery is not needed.

I like to spend time with people I trust - in fact, I would really like a family who was home quite often to snuggle me. I like to go for short walks, explore a fully fenced in yard while supervised by my foster mom, and I'm good with other small dogs who are mellow, friendly, and low energy. I'm doing well with potty training but I'm not 100% yet - with a consistent schedule and treats when I do my personal business outside I'm doing quite well!

Because I have tiny fragile bones and get scared easily by loud and quick movements I need a home with children who are over 10 years of age. I would do well with or without a fenced yard (no invisible fences please) as long as my family promised to take me outside on a leash several times a day for some short walks.

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 6 hour periods.
-Children must be 10 yrs or older

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
