Facts about Rascal

  • Breed: Beagle Mix
  • Color: Tricolor (Tan/Brown & Black & White)
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Male
Rascal is a shy guy who is still learning how to trust new people. He is friendly with them, but it takes him some time to warm up, and he gets pretty worried about unexpected noises or movements. Rascal does like to play with his beagle friends, though he gets nervous when larger dogs try to play with him, and we would like him to go home with another confident, easy-going dog to help show him the ropes of life outside the lab. He is still working on house training and walking on the leash, and is improving with both each day. Rascal will need a quieter home where his new family will spend plenty of time working with him to help build his confidence and enjoy life to the fullest. We know he can thrive in just the right home, and we can’t wait for them to find him!

About Kindness Ranch Animal Sanctuary

About Our Shelter...

The mission of the Kindness Ranch is to provide a sanctuary and place of rehabilitation for animals who have been used in laboratory research.

Staff at Kindness Ranch work to rehabilitate our dogs and cats in a home-like environment. Cats and dogs at the ranch live together with their human caretakers in spacious yurts specially designed to meet their needs. They receive round-the-clock care to help them adjust to their new lives.

The Kindness Ranch also provides foster and adoption programs for all the animals we can rehabilitate. Those who are too debilitated, old or ill to be placed in a loving home can remain on the ranch to live out their days, surrounded by caretakers and volunteers who put the animals’ well-being first.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Potential adopters are welcome to visit Kindness Ranch and meet the animals by appointment. Some animals are also able to visited in or near their foster homes. We sometimes hold adoption events in Cheyenne, WY and Casper, WY.

Our Adoption Process...

We require an adoption application to be filled out and may request a home visit if deemed necessary. Potential adopters are counseled on the special needs that many lab animals have and will work with a staff member to find a good match for their home. The adoption fee is $50 for cats and $150 for dogs. All adopters sign an adoption contract, as well, and are encouraged to keep in touch with pictures and stories!
