Major is a German Shepherd, estimated to be 5 years-old.  He needs a home with a very experienced dog-savvy owner.  This sweet dog takes a while to trust people, but when he does, he is affectionate, and loves giving kisses and getting attention.  He becomes nervous in some social settings, and when he becomes nervous, his first instinct is to nip.  However, he will calm down if given space and time.  He has had issues with men, and it often takes a bit before he is comfortable with them.  He gets along well with other dogs and loves to play.  Major is like Houdini when it comes to escaping his kennel, and he becomes destructive when out.   He listens well, has already learned some basic commands, and loves to be outside.  He will do best in a home without children under the age of 12 and wouldn’t do well in an apartment setting.

Please note:  Adoptions for Major are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainer.  The tax-deductible donation to adopt him is $350.

About Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, Inc. is a not for profit organization formed in 2014 by a small group of devoted animal lovers, in the Council Bluffs/Omaha area, with many years of rescue experience wanting to make a difference in the lives of dogs. Our rescue focuses on small breed dogs, less than 35 pounds, of any age. It is all volunteer based, and all of our rescue dogs are living in the homes of our volunteers.
Our rescue is unique in that we offer supportive services, such as education and training, to owners considering relinquishing their pet in an effort to try to keep the dog in their home whenever possible. We also educate and offer placement assistance to owners attempting to rehome their pets through social media sites, which can often be risky for the pets as well as the owners.
