Frankie is a 1yr old male Chihuahua mix who is 14lbs. He is neutered and fully vetted. Frankie is great with other dogs, cats and children.

Frankie was rescued from a local warehouse where he showed up looking for food last December along with him Mom, Fiona. They won his trust and were able to get him to us so he could be taken care of.
It is obvious the little guy was on his own for a while. You could tell when you touched him that he was not used to human contact as he stiffened up and flinched. He was also not used to a leash and mortally afraid of dog toys.

After just a few weeks in the foster home, however, Frankie has transformed into a completely different dog!

Now instead of running away he is trying to make friends with everybody he meets. You can tell he is a Chihuahua, friendly, sweet, loving and very playful. In the foster home he follows his foster family members around the house , comes when called and plays with all the family dogs and cats. He has discovered dog toys, too!

Frankie is rock solid housebroken. It is amazing for such a small dog who spent most of his life outside not to have a SINGLE accident at home.

Frankie is crate trained and doesn’t have any problem staying there for some time during the day. At night he would prefer to sleep with his people of course.

Frankie is very food motivated and can be taught tricks. He would stand on his hind legs for a treat.

Frankie is good on a leash. He would also enjoy a good run on a backyard or in the dog park. He is a young, active and playful little dog. He went on his first off-leash hike the other weekend and loved it!

Frankie has an adorable habit of giving us a gentle nudge with his nose. We’ve never seen any other dog doing it. He loves to be petted and scratched.

Judging by his progress, provided the right environment he will make a great pet.

We would recommend Frankie for a family with other friendly and confident dogs to set him a good example and be his playmates. ANOTHER OPTION FOR FRANKIE WOULD BE TO GET ADOPTED TOGETHER WITH HIS MOM FIONA, THEY ARE VERY GOOD TOGETHER. SHE IS A SWEET SUBMISSIVE DOG.

About Pregnant Dog Rescue, Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Pregnant Dog Rescue, Inc. is staffed entirely by volunteers. Without them, we literally would not exist.
Want to join our team? We’re always looking for people who can share their time and talents with us. Currently, we’re looking for…
• Adoption Coordinators
• Fosters
• Fundraising Managers
• Grant Writers
• Transportation
• Marketing & Communication
Adoption Coordinators
Adoption Coordinators are our volunteers who see each adoption through from start to finish. They play a vital role at Pregnant Dog Rescue!
Coordinators are assigned a specific group of dogs on our site. When an application comes in for one of these dogs, coordinators begin by interviewing the applicant over the phone followed by checking references. If approved, the adoption coordinator puts the applicants and fosters in touch or helps to facilitate a meet and greet with our local dogs.
Each application takes approximately one-hour to process over the course of one to two days on average.
The more dogs we can foster, the more dogs we can save.
We’re always looking for foster caregivers to provide our dogs with safe homes and lots of TLC until they’re adopted.

Fundraising Managers
When we rescue dogs, they often need vaccines, medical treatment and rehabilitation. To help us continue our life saving work, we’re always looking for people with creative fundraising ideas.

Grant Writers
One of the biggest boosts to the work we do comes from grants from organizations like the ASPCA. We need people who can identify grants and help us submit applications.

We often need help getting our dogs to and from the vet, to foster or adoptive homes, and to pet fairs. We also get donations of food, toys and veterinary supplies that need to get delivered from the donor.
Marketing & Communication
One of the simplest ways to help is to spread the word about what we do. Link to our webpage, tweet about us, and tell your friends. We also need someone to post news items on our website.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Please feel free to call or email us at anytime! We have no set hours of operation as these babies need constant care so we are always on call.
We pride ourselves in that we are not only here to help the dogs, but people too. We believe that in general the rescue community overlooks that fact. Without other people, we would not be able to help these moms and puppies. We are open and honest and expect others to be the same. We are an open book. We feel that we can contribute greatly to the human bond with all dogs by also creating a bond with the people that cross our paths. This means if you need help, we will do our best to help you and your dog. If you would like to adopt, we are very friendly, open and willing to make things work for you. We do our best to make the best matches possible.
