Santos Is a Sweet Companion Looking for a Special Home

3-year-old, white, large, male, German Shepherd
Good with other dogs: Females only
Good with children: No
Good with cats: No

Santos started off in a rough situation as just a young pup. His owner, who purchased him in Germany
and brought him to the United States, abused Santos. Such a sad story. He was surrendered to Saving
Paws after the owner wanted to euthanize him because he’d created some fear and aggression issues
with his abuse. But Santos has come a long way! And he’s a very sweet, cuddly boy that will truly enrich
the lives of patient and experienced owners.

Santos is a special dog who has had extensive, in-depth training, which has resolved most of his fear and
anxiety issues. His owners are getting ready for a new baby in the home and Santos is still very
protective, which isn’t a great situation for a new baby. Santos does need to go to a home with no
children because he is overly protective.

This gorgeous boy would be an ideal companion for someone who lives in a quiet home without a lot of
visitors and activity, which tend to aggravate Santos and make him feel overly protective. He gets along
wonderfully with female dogs, but not so much with males.

Santos is housebroken and crate trained and walks well on a leash. He’s a very sweet dog that loves to
curl up on the sofa with his people. And his favorite hobbies are chasing birds and playing ball. He just
loves belly rubs and putting his head in your lap for cuddles.

The nearly two years of training have really improved the anxiety and fear he had when he first came to
Saving Paws. He’s wonderful on a leash, but still wary of strangers. So any potential adopters will need
to be willing to work with him when taking him out or having guests in the home. He gets very
protective of his home and his owners. He also resource guards, so will need to be fed separately and
with some caution. But once he’s done eating, he’s just fine.

If you are an experienced owner with a quiet home and female dog(s), and are interested in giving
Santos a spot on your sofa, please

Donate to Our Rescue Group...

Saving Paws is a registered 501c3 not for profit corporation. All personnel are volunteers and are not compensated for their time and expenses. Donations of food, supplies and dollars always appreciated and allow us to help more dogs.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Currently our resources do not allow one central facility for our operations. We have many dogs in foster care and board others at the Canine Country Club. They are located in Phoenix, Arizona. All adoptions are by appointment. We do our best to be available and accommodate your schedule. However, being volunteer, we ask for your patience and assistance in all matters. A minor inconvenience is a small price to pay for helping a dog in need.

"Saving Paws" also participates in numerous adoption events year around. We will post these to our website and to this venue as they are scheduled.

Our Adoption Process...

"Saving Paws" works individually with each potential adopter to assure a good match and successful placement. The specific adoption process can vary and includes:

* Telephone and or email consultation.
* "Meet & Greet" with selected animals. We request that all family members and pets be present.
* Adoption application and reference check.
* Home visit
* Completion of the adoption process.
* Any additional follow up or assistance required.

Adoption fees and donations offset the extremely high cost of veterinary care, food, boarding and numerous other expenses.
