My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET SKYE-7 year old male Husky/Shepherd
We have been waiting a long time to share Skye's story. Skye came to Wild Dog Rescue nearly 4 years ago. He came to us with his mate, Karma, from the Chicago area. There they were found living near a dumpster at a horse race track, a common dumping grounds for animals. Skye and Karma were inseparable at the time, however, Karma's life was cut short due to bone cancer, and Skye has been lost since. The only security he knew was gone. He didn't trust us and was very unsure about other dogs. It has taken time and a lot of patience, but Skye has found that we aren't such bad people after all. And he has even made several 4 legged friends along the way. We believe that with the right person, a lot of love and even more patience, Skye will make a great companion. He loves toys and we can even take him on walks now. He will require a fenced in yard, one at least 5 feet high. And he will not be able to go to a family with children. He will need to be in a house, so no apartments or condos for this boy. Skye is very picky and choosey about his 4 legged friends. He seems to prefer females over males, but even then, he is picky. If we could find the right match, another dog would serve as a security blanket for him and help him adjust to being a companion. Adopting Skye will take time, and probably several visits. Your opinion of this handsome guy cannot be properly formed with just one visit. He is a special guy with a sweet sweet soul. Please remember, from what we know, he has never known the love and acceptance of a human before coming here to WDR. He needs time. What he doesn't need is to spend the rest of his life in a kennel, not knowing what a dog's life should really be like.
