My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Eli!!
I began my life as a cute puppy, but after I started to grow, my previous owners decided to stick me outside at the end of a chain; both day and night. All I was given for shelter was an old truck cap and I was constantly fed corn and pasta and, too many times, I didn’t even have water to drink! I don’t know why. I didn’t do anything wrong. I just wanted to love and to be loved. What’s even worse (if you can believe it could get worse) is that I ended up getting heartworms. Ugh!
But then these awesome humans with a rescue group saw me and worked hard to get me out of the cold and rain and a foster family volunteered to take me in! Because of them, and with the help of another very cool rescue group, I was able to start living inside 24/7! I am SO happy that’s all behind me, now! And I was given cool things to play with and chew on like balls, Nylabones and stuffed toys!! I wasn’t sure what to do with them at first, but I figured it out pretty fast, because I’m a smart boy! Oh, and by the way, those are the only things I chew on!
I guess I’m about 2 years old and people think I may be mixed with Jack Russell and Shar Pei; whatever that means. There may be other things mixed in there, but all I know is that I’m handsome! I have a lot of energy, but it’s really not too bad. I just never had the chance to run free and play for soooo long. I love playing with my foster siblings, too, and they all have four legs just like me! I’m house-broken (which I picked up on in about one week!), I do well sleeping in a crate, riding in cars and I love everyone I meet, no matter how old or young they are, and whether they have two legs or four! That even includes cats, which I chase sometimes, but I have never hurt them. I just want to play. Most of the time, though, I just sniff at them or watch them walk by. I’m just a happy boy! And did I mention that I’m smart? I know basic obedience commands, but I would love it if I was taught even more! I have to tell you, at the end of the day, or even in the middle of the day, I just love to kick back and relax and sleep; especially if I have a comfy bed or lap to lay on.
Oh, and they also wanted me to mention that I’ve been fully vetted, including neutering, and have already gone through all of the crappy heartworm treatments. Now I’m all ready for some more awesome people to meet me and fall in love with the new me!! I can’t wait to meet my forever family! I’m so excited!!!

Our adoption process starts with our application. Once the application is approved, a member of Legacy will contact you to set up a home visit. The home visit usually last 1-11/2 hours and is to make sure our dog and any current dogs/cats are getting along, as well as both of us agreeing it's a fit. At this time the adoption fee is due, and begins the 2 week trial. We will check in during the 2 week trial. If it's not working, our dog is returned to the foster home and all except $50.00 of the adoption fee is returned. At the end of the 2 week trial, you decide if you will finalize the adoption - if finalized, the Adoption Contract is signed and all medical records are turned over to you. If at any time you need to rehome the dog it contractually needs to be returned to Legacy Dog Rescue.

ADOPTION FEE's:
Puppies under 6 months: $199.00
Adults: $150.00
Seniors (over 7 yrs): $99.00

If you are interested in one of our dogs please fill out an application: http://fs23.formsite.com/blase0711/form1/index.html
