  • Young and playful!
  • Goes to potty outside. "may have accident but seems to go to door when she wants out)
  • Lots of energy. Especially since she has been in boarding a while.
  • Will require regular grooming. Had to have ears and legs shaved due to matting.
  • Very loving and affectionate. Loves toys and balls.
  • Will require meet n greet with any other pets.
  • Likes to sit in your lap or next to you for petting.

GiGi history: GiGi was found on a street and brought to Alexandria animal control. I, founder/president of Rockers Rescue, spotted her picture online and fell in love. She looks identical to one of my cocker spaniels when she was the same age. If my dog could go back in time...they would be twins. I made the 2 hour drive down to get GiGi and place her under our rescue to ensure she was taken care of and finds a good forever home.

GiGi Current Info: GiGi  has been in boarding at our vet since beginning February.  Reason being she had a "sneezing condition" we couldn't figure out. One day the connection had been made.  GiGi has been starved in the past. She eats her food so quickly it can go up her nasal canal and cause sneezing.   She now has a slow feeder and it has helped tremendously. She may have some allergy issues going on as well.  GiGi is still in boarding at our vet until we find an adopter or foster.

Personality:  GiGi is very playful! She loves toys and people! Even likes rolling in the grass right now since she has been in boarding for a while. Really needs a yard to run around in. GiGi is good around calm dogs but may be good with a dog that could put her in her place as well.  Meet n greet will be required right now if you have other animals.

Vetting: Up to date on shots (last 1 year from date given), spayed, microchipped under rescue (see below), heartworm negative and on prevention(which owners must continue doing), on flea/tick prevention, dewormed, xrays, nasal rinse and thorough exams.

About Microchip:       Our animals are microchipped under the rescue. By having the animals microchipped under us it provides us with a definite option of the animal being safe if found. If the pet ever goes missing you can let us know as well so we may help find them. If we ever are called on the animal being found we will try our best for 2 weeks to get in contact with the owners (as you should also be trying to get in contact with us) and if the owner is not found after 2 weeks the animal is legally ours again via our contract. This is a GREAT safety precaution for loving families. It means you will have an awesome caring team devoted to reuniting you with your baby. We ourselves have found microchipped dogs that have been rehomed and ended up in shelters on a euthanasia list. We take this very seriously as we never want that to happen to any of our animals. We also require first option of taking an animal back if the home does not work out. You can consider us a forever family for the pets adopted from us.

Adoption:  Any inquiries on adoption please feel free to message us. We are preferring a home with a yard for GiGi, no apartments.  All information stated above is the the best of our knowledge for for as long as we have known this sweet girl. Adoption fee of $100.
Must have a vet reference when filling out one of our applications.
First email us to let us know you are sending it, rockersrescue@gmail.com then go to the following site to fill out the application. Include as much information as you can...we like to get to know our possible adopters!      www.adoptapet.com/ rockersrescue/adoptionapp/  .

About Rockers Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Rockers Rescue is a smaller organization. We were founded and became a 501c3 non profit in December of 2015. We are currently foster only with plans to have our own building set up down the road. Being foster only means we cannot help a dog in need without a home to temporarily watch the dog until it is adopted.
We fall in love with dogs that are in need. Dirty, scared. malnourished, mange, heartworms, embedded collars, elderly, etc. When we pull a dog under our rescue .... they are treated as if they are our own personal dogs. We get them fixed, microchipped, and up to date. We nurture them back to health and we get attached to them. We see lots of them evolve from scared and discarded little dogs to beautiful amazing ones. From a high kill shelter with no hope... to a lovely AMAZING pet.

Looking back at them from when we first got them..... and seeing them now...it is worth every second. We want our adopters to have that same bond with them. We want them to know this isn't just a dog... its an amazing pet with a story. One that has been discarded but wants love. They DESERVE love.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are a foster only rescue so we do not have a location for potential adopters to visit. We are newer and working on set adoption days around Shreveport, Louisiana. You may email us at rockersrescue@gmail.com to see if we have current adoption days or check our facebook page Rockers Rescue- Northwest La.

If we do not have a current adoption event we require people to first fill out our adoption application before we will schedule a meet. We are foster only so this saves us time having the potantial adopter pre-approved.

Our Adoption Process...

We require people interested in our dogs to fill out an adoption application through email. We will call to do vet/ landlord checks. It is important that our adopters have their own vet and are fully prepared mentally and financially for another pet. All of our animals are to remain on heartworm prevention. We prefer fenced back yards but dependent on the dog they may be able to handle a different lifestyle. It just depends.
If approved we will plan a meet to see how the dog does in your home environment and with your pets and family. If you are not local we will request pictures of where the pet would be staying. If you are not local it helps for us to know all about your animals and their temperaments etc.

The adoption fees may vary but they are around $100 with the animal being spayed or neutered, up to date on shots, on heartworm prevention, and microchipped.

With any of our dogs that have heartworms we do slow treatment. This is less harsh on the dog than full blown treatment. The dogs are able to maintain their normal lifestyle. With full blown treatment it is dangerous if they do not remain calm. They get 2 doxycycline pills twice a day for a month. Along with taking preventative. This kills the baby heartworms and prevents more from being born while weakening the adults until they die off. Our dogs going through slow treatment are very much adoptable but if they are still taking their month of pills they require a responsible owner to be sure they take them.

Some of our dogs may be getting shots weekly for non-contagious mange etc. If you are local to us you could bring the dog to our vet to continue their shots. If you aren't local we would have to work it out so that the dog could go to your vet to finish their treatment. We want the best for our dogs. If you are interested in adopting one that currently has more special care we can see what can be worked out. So long as our babies are safe, loved, and taken care of!
