Fergus is a 2 year old English Bulldog that came to AHBR as a stray from MCACC.  His adoption fee is $550.

Fergus is a super sweet boy that just happens to be the biggest dork in the world!  He's floppy and goofy and is guaranteed to make you laugh.  Some of Fergus's favorite things are food, playing with other dogs, and gently nibbling on people's toes.  His dislikes include baths and the mere thought of sharing food with his foster siblings.

Fergus has demodectic mange that he must overcome before he can be neutered and ready for his forever home.  He has begun treatment, but it will likely be a couple of months until he is ready.

Our Adoption Process...

Response Time: Almost Home Bulldog Rescue is a 100% volunteer run organization & we receive many inquiries daily. Our average response time to inquiries is 3-5 business days. Regarding the adoption process please see the bellow steps.

Adopting out of State: We do not normally adopt out of state since we require a home visit as well as a meet and greet with you and your potential pup performed by an Almost Home representative. In addition, our organization maintains contact with our adoptive families for the life of our dogs. We are a support network for anything that could ever arise with our rescue families and, unfortunately, at this time we could not give that initial security to a long-distance adoption. If you are interested in adopting a Bulldog and do not live in the state of Arizona, please check:

Adoption Schedule: The questionnaire does not obligate you in any way and we do not require a fee to submit your questionnaire. The only money that is involved is the adoption donation at the time you complete an adoption. Our adoption schedule is the following: Young (0-2yrs) $550, Adult (2-8yrs) $450, Senior (8yrs and fabulously above) $350.

Rescue Bulldogs: Please keep in mind that rescued Bulldogs are not always happy, healthy or well adjusted. If you are considering adopting a rescue it should be because you are committed to giving a homeless dog a second chance. This means having the time and patience to work with social, emotional and behavioral problems. In some cases, a health issue is present. Many rescued Bulldogs don't get along with other animals and some can't be placed with children. If you're seeking a rescue as a way to obtain a cheap Bulldog, you've come to the wrong place. You must be passionate about the breed to accept what baggage comes along. If you're looking for perfection, please buy from a reputable breeder.

Adoption Process

Step 1, Adoption Questionnaire: If you are serious about adopting we encourage you to complete a questionnaire even if the current dogs don't seem to be a match with your family. The questionnaire can be found on our website at If your questionnaire has been reviewed, references checked, and a home visit completed, and you are ultimately approved, you will be in a better position for adoption when a dog for whom you ARE suited is looking for a home. We do not always list every adoptable dog on AdoptaPet or on our website.

Incomplete Questionnaires: Due to the high volume of responses we receive, incomplete questionnaires will not be processed. ALL answers are important.

Step 2, Reference Check: We will contact your Veterinarian, personal references & landlord (if applicable) for a reference. This is a critical step to ensure the safety of our dogs and that we are making the right match for you and your family.

Step 3, Home Visit: If your vet check is favorable, the next step is to arrange a home visit at a time that all family members will be available & when your outdoor property can also be observed. When you are contacted by the volunteer who will be visiting with you, that individual will be committing their own time to a meeting that will be convenient for everyone. Please be certain that you will be available for that visit. The volunteer who visits you will be making observations based on AHBR's criteria. This person is not the individual who will approve or disapprove your potential adoption. Often, this person is not someone who is fostering any of our dogs and will usually not be able to answer questions about the dogs. Home visits are based on our volunteers’ geographic location and their proximity to the prospective adopters.

Step 4, Meet & Greet: If the home visit has gone well we will consider you “approved”. At that time, if there is a dog we would like you to meet, we will provide photos, information, and arrange a meet and greet. We prefer to have all family members and other pets meet with the Bulldog who might become the new family member.

If no suitable match is possible at that time, your approved questionnaire is kept on file and it only means that YOUR dog has not found US yet!

Step 5, Adoption: When you have met a dog that is a suitable match, the next steps are discussed at that time. We will speak with you at length regarding what you can expect during the re-homing and adaptation period.

Removing your Questionnaire: If at any point you have acquired a dog elsewhere, or have decided you are no longer interested in adopting through AHBR, please contact us so that we can remove your questionnaire from further consideration.

It is important for all interested parties to understand that our primary commitment is to the dogs who are in our care.
