My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi guys, my name is Mason. I am a Plott Hound/Lab mix. I am about 1 ½ years old and I have a cool coat – it’s mostly Brindle but the top of my back is black. I was found as a stray somewhere in Southern, IL and brought to a kill shelter. An IAR Volunteer saw my silly face and said, “I have to save this boy”. Whew, I’m so glad she did. I look like a Plott but have the personality of a Labbie (I don’t shed like a Lab). I love to play and here at my foster home I get to play with a bunch of dogs. Playing with all these dogs; it’s like I’m in doggie daycare every day. But a doggie daycare with no toys because my foster Mom puts them away. See, I was never taught to share my toys. So, the toys get put away but that’s okay because I like to play, run around and just hang out with the other dogs; no toys are needed to keep me happy. Maybe my forever family can help me with my sharing by taking me to training?? I just need someone to teach me to share. When we do get our special treats, our foster Mom puts the whole gang in their dens (our crates) for our bones (boy, I like those) and I go right into my crate; I’m crate trained and house trained. I am also cat friendly. The cats that live here I don’t chase them and am very nice to them. While in my foster home I have learned the basic commands: SIT, DOWN, WAIT and COME. You can check out my video on me doing some of my training tricks or my foster Mom can show you. I’m a smart cookie by learning all this! My foster Mom takes me to her work for socialization and I see lots of people. I like going to her business because it’s a store for dogs and I get to try out the merchandise. I greet all the people that come into the store and they say, “what a cool looking dog”. So, do you want to come meet a cool looking dog? That’s me! Please fill out an adoption application at: www.illinoisanimalrescue.org and then my foster Mom will set up our play date. Hope to see you soon, Mason.

Mason is located in our foster home in Plano. Please visit our website at www.illinoisanimalrescue.org to view our adoption process and our adoption fees.
