Sophie's Story...
Hello there. I am Sophie and an 11 month old pug/beagle mix. I am currently only 13 pounds. I came in because my owner could not give me the attention I needed-I am an energetic puppy. I am a very sweet girl that loves to be with my people. I am said to be crate trained and am working on my housetraining. I am doing well, but with some patience and consistency I should catch on quickly. I enjoy belly rubs and have played fetch before. Come visit me and see if I am the sweet girl for your family!

Unlike our cats, we try to have our dogs in foster homes throughout the week. IF a dog is in a foster home, they come in on Saturdays from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Arrangements can be made to have specific dogs brought in during the week- just give us a call or email to see if the dog you are interested in is in a foster home and set up a meeting time if necessary.

Our adoption fees include the following: all of our dogs/puppies are current on vaccinations (DHPP and Rabies if over 3 months of age) at the point of adoption, dewormed, heartworm tested and current on preventative, microchipped, treated for fleas/ticks and are spayed or neutered. Our large dog adoption fee is generally $140 + tax. Our small dog and puppy adoption fee is generally $175 + tax. Adoption fees may vary in special circumstances. Due to space limitations, we do not hold dogs.

Because we are on a busy street, we require that all dogs leaving the shelter be in a carrier or on leash. All pets remain up for adoption until an approved application is processed and their adoption fee paid.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sophie, a Brookings Pug/Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pug/Rat Terrier for sale in Brookings, or seeking a Pug/Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Brookings.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Brookings already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Brookings breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pug/Rat Terrier breeders who help with Pug/Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Brookings paves the way for another one to be saved.
