My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, My name is Patrick. I am about 1.5 years old shepherd mix of some kind. I came into rescue almost a year ago as an older puppy who wandered up into a yard with a horrendous wound on my neck. This nice lady surrendered me to a vet clinic to try and get some help, and the vet clinic called to my foster mom for help. My horrendous wound turned out to be a severely embedded collar that was probably put on me when I was a wee baby and then never loosened. It was so deep it was almost at my throat column and it was terribly swollen, infected, disgusting, and I was embarrassed and in pain. After several hours of surgery, my nasty tiny collar was removed and my neck was stitched back together and my head did not fall off!!
I have lived with my foster mom since March 2016 and she was a near foster failure because I was very happy there, but my foster mom has horses and I have found horse tails to be magical and the only reason i have not been killed is the horses have terrible aim. So, an equine free home is a must! I HAVE NO SENSE IN THIS AREA!!!!

I am great with other dogs, love to play, want no troubles, and afraid of dogs who try and eat me, and am housebroken and crate trained. I prefer to eat in my crate because I will not be picked on and can eat without fear of being mauled by the resident pack. I have a love/hate relationship with cats. I love to rough-house play with cats who streak across the yard and they hate me bad. But, I will cuddle and sleep with cats who are lazy, unabashed at my enthusiasm, and want to simply snuggle. I love car rides and will try and get into any open car door, never met a stranger, and have a nervous grin which is featured in one of my pictures. I do not snarl - only grin if I am excited or think I am in trouble. So, I have to smile a lot. Thank you for looking at my profile and if you like long walks on the beach, have an adequate supply of snacks (which I tend to eat like a shark from your hand), and have an extra large couch, I am the dog for you and want to come leave my hair on all your things. Luv, Patrick
