Update RJ is currently in a foster home doing great! Here is what his foster mom had to say:
We got some cute pictures of RJ on a walk today. He is doing great. He is so sweet, gentle and well behaved. He's great with the kitties too.
Meet RJ! RJ is looking for his forever home. He loves all people. RJ gets along with all female dogs and most male dogs. Also RJ does well with cats! He knows how to sit and shake. RJ likes to go on walks and car rides. He loves to lay on his bed and sleep..lol RJ does great with large crowds, and does well with children. He is a love bug and enjoys spending time with people. RJ is about 6 years old and weighs about 81lbs. He came to the shelter in July 2015 as a stray with skin issues. RJ was started on treatment and responded to the treatments. In October 2015 he entered the cell dog program, but had to return to the shelter in December 2015 because his skin issues came back. Once again poor RJ had to start treatments for his skin issues and he was started on a hypo allergenic food. His skin made improvements, but was still itchy. In January 2016 RJ was started on Z/D food. RJ skin continued to improve. March 2016 he was adopted, and we were all so excited for him! Sadly he was returned in less than a week because of his skin issues. They reported that he was super itchy. The decision was made to have an allergy test done on him. April 2016 his results came back that suggest he has several environmental allergies that warrant hypo sensitization injections. RJ continued to have treatments and May 2016 he was started on the injections. It has been a slow process to see improvements, but RJ is finally feeling some relief. Most likely he will require these injections for the remainder of his life, or best case his immune system will build up and no longer need the injections.

Very closely monitored and very selective chosen inmate train the dogs with crate training, basic commands and some tricks.
