My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

INITIAL BIO 09/23/08: MEET ERNIE! Ernie is 4 y/o and weighs 8# - he is being fostered in Davie, Florida. Ernie was surrendered by his owner because she wanted a better life for him. Ernie is the consummate out-doors-man - uh, out-doors-dog! He LOVES the yard - he even loves to roll a basketball all over the yard - he will do this until he poops out. As soon as he arrived at the foster home and went outside, he jumped right into the pool for a swim - it startled Foster Dad so much that he jumped in with him to show Ernie the stairs. By the way, Ernie has 2 life jackets! He really needs a home with a backyard so that he can run out all his energy.

Ernie expects LOTS of love and attention - he loves people and when out in public, he is very social and demands that folks pay attention to him by barking. Foster Mom will be working on this not-so-great behavior. Ernie's former owner traveled quite a bit, both by car and plane, and he is a great little traveler. He has adapted to new homes and other dogs, both small and large, very well. He will stay in his travel crate in the car for hours without a squeak - although he prefers to have a blankie over him so that he doesn't get excited and want to 'be noticed' when he sees other people.

Ernie is housetrained to go outside, but also trained to go on wee-wee pads when the weather is inclement. He is a quick learner and loves to sit and shake hands for treats, but can become very bossy with them. Ernie likes to be the boss and also would like to be the alpha dog if he is adopted into a home with another dog. He will definitely need a home with structure so that he doesn't take over.
